Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October 1964 was an American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first female vice president , and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as being the first African American and first Asian American vice president. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California in 2011-2017 and she was a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She began her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, before being recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the United States junior senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sánchez during the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. As a senator, she advocated for healthcare reform as well as federal de-scheduling cannabis, a path towards citizenship for immigrants without a legal status, the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials in Senate hearings earned her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
